The thing with Kobe beef is that unqualified "Kobe beef" doesn't mean a lot directly about quality, and what it does mean is made irrelevant by grinding it. Baseline is just "Prime equivalent and graded in Kobe", so no different from any western pub burger but also subject to the Japanese idea of a burger as a White Castle-McDonald's thin and cooked-through topping vehicle.

picture: One of the many, many mini-caves in the hiking trails around Aokigahara. The local geography and flora fascinate me, it feels achingly familiar as someone who grew up in hilly rural New England's tenuous but technically primeval mixed forests, but then underlaying it are countless volcanic formations. I'd like to stay a while technically also stay forever and study it.
