>but they aren't singers, dancers, TV personalities, actresses, comedians or radio presenters. They're idols
One thing doesn't exclude the others, get over that.
I'm seeing this argument being thrown around quite often, and every time, like fucking clockwork, it turns out to be just a cheap excuse to invalidate whatever good idols might have done, because the token dickhead has no desire to do any research before shouting cheap, easily confutable insults. Change your tune already.
And you still don't get it, if their job didn't include any of these professions, then what point does each partner agency have in furthering their careers as actors, singers and variety show talents? What pushed Wasamin's agency to give her two enka albums and aggressively promote them, if they really considered idols to be good for nothing pieces of shit like you do?

>while maintaining a pure image
Fucking laffo. Those idols (who presumedly must "maintain a pure image", according to you) crack more dirty jokes about each others than you can about your favorite 2hu.
Since the beginning, AKB48 has always striven to break out of the mold and subvert the old, obsolete image that people had about idols.
That's right, your idea of what an idol should or shouldn't do is outdated, mainly thanks to AKB48.
For fuck's sake, do you even know that Meetan was a 2nd generation member?
