I just started with Core 2k/6k Optimized Japanese Vocabulary. This is number 1 "ichi" followed by tsu. but it's throwing me off a little bit because it's pronounced as "hitotsu". Why not just use 一 individually. Right now I'm just reading each character individually and it doesn't make that much sense to me.
