I started reading a story that implied right in EP1 it was inspired by The Divine Comedy, and now I'm butthurt that the main character turned out to be the author and his story was all a fantasy he created to help him come to terms with a traumatizing event, just like the Divine Comedy. There was no foreshadowing for this whatsoever!

Sorry, but the revelations from EP8 are straight out of the piece of literature Umineko was known to be drawing upon. This is precisely the ending that was foreshadowed from day one.
