Well., the short version is that Kyary Pamyu Pamyu began as a small time model during highschool for harajuku niche magazines. She started a fashion blog that put her on the map.

Then she became the mascot for a fake eyelash line, yadda yadda yadda Nakata from capsule scouts her for some music.
"PONPONPON" went viral across the internet.

It did pretty well on the charts, especially on itunes in many countries. This was on the single "Moshi Moshi Harajuku"

Then she put out an autobiography.

Then came "Tsukema Tsukeru" which si about fake eyelashes and it has done pretty well so far.

She was primarily a model for a good bit and now is a pop star. She even has a mameshiba line now.
