Keep in mind that a lower rank lamia monster may take only a few days of preparation, but a more powerful/high rank one could take years or even decades, plus there would be various trials she'd have to overcome to prove she is worthy of it.

Don't forget the Cult of the Snake God. Whole groups of people who want nothing more than to worship lamias and eventually become some type of lamia.

I wonder if any manage to convince a basilisk to join the cult/manage to become a basilisk (the more powerful the lamia type the harder it is to get a human to become it, to make someone become a echidna the cult has to gather lamia mana for years or even decades).
