Actually, hospitals just keep light beer or other drinkable alcohol for situations like this. Providers DO occasionally order an alcohol IV, but it'd be alcohol in normal saline or something, not actual wine. And they'd order it for alcoholics going through withdrawal AND unable to safely eat or drink (e.g., they're likely unconscious or intubated).
