Please stop taking the Sanae and Sakuya rivalry seriously, it was just nonsensical posting and was never meant to be taken as something seriously.

I might not call it hatred but I can actually see why most people do not really like her.

If you look at the playable command we have Reimu the shrine maiden and Marisa the witch.
Both of these characters have many differences and both feels unique.

Then Sakuya gets added, a knife throwing maid which also added more uniqueness to the playable choices.

We now have 3 characters who's all different and unique.

And then Sanea gets added into the game, she's a shrine maiden just like Reimu and honestly does not feel that unique and she's very similar to Reimu , she didn't really add anything new to the playable character at all.

So now we have 2 shrine maidens which both are very similar and a Witch who's more unique.

I feel from a design point of view that it would be better if the third reoccurring playable character would actually stand out more, and not just feel like a clone of one of the characters.

I'm not saying it should have been Sakuya that became the 3'rd reoccurring playable character, but I think it would at least fit much better than another Shrine maiden.

She's the Luigi of Touhou.
