Mount Miwa's main deity is Omononushi, an aspect of the god Okuninushi. If Matarajin is Okuninushi then...I feel like this is big. I want to believe we're getting closer to the endgame. That endgame being Maribel transforming into Yukari. I think Okina, a god who creates youkai and controls life force, is going to be the one to instigate the transformation. But that's if ZUN decides to head into climax territory (which he doesn't do often at all) so who knows.
