It's not really worth to use a plot point outside the Keine storyline to solve a problem that won't be relevant until a good while after the story itself is over. Questions answered by Deus Ex Machina are hardly satisfying.
Will be rolling with either of the original ideas of ripping off Monster Inc., saying the Hakurei Barrier keeps them from vanishing or just saying 'fuck it, we ball, won't address the issue, lol'
or maybe something more interesting and nuanced comes regarding Keine's power of eating story~
