An interesting theory. In the case of FGO and KC I think a lot of official art is drawn in a way where some fan artists could definitely improve it in some ways, or try to. With something like GBF, the art is consistent, which also leads me to believe that some artists would like to try drawing it in their own style. When I look at the AL girls I get this 'shiny, clean and spotless' vibe, all of them look like they're trying to be as perfect as possible, which is something I don't really like. When something is drawn as elborate as them, that's probably also offputting for most artists. Now, GBF and AL are both not nearly as high as FGO and KC popularity wise, and comiket wise. But l think what I was mentioning above was probably just a small factor. Apologies for the autistic rambling
