That seems to be what everyone's saying, yet everytime I do the PvP stuff it seems like everyone and their mother has a Kongou type.

I'd like to at least get Yamashiro so I can finish my unlucky sisters quests.

I've mentioned in previous threads, sending carriers at enemy carriers, especially against human opponents, is a great way to lose all your bauxite. If I see enemy carriers I drop Kaga and Akagi and use Maya and someone else (usually Isuzu) with high AA instead. Or I just don't bother doing practice matches if they aren't going to be good XP.

Also watch out in sorties if you swapped your fighters out for extra bombers to grind, don't be like me and try to clear a map without swapping them back in. I ran into a carrier fleet and lost 400 bauxite of planes in one battle.

Fighting human players seems to be even more dumb luck than sorties. I can get some guy loaded with high level ships and kick his ass, then I try fighting someone with a bunch of low level ships (but high level flagship, so it looks like easy huge EXP) and I miss his lvl 5 ships all battle long while they crit me every time.

Grind, then luck.

I've been trying to clear it with Mutsu, Yamashiro, Haruna, Maya, Kaga, Akagi (all 35-40 except Haruna) but the true final boss doesn't cooperate. Last two tries I actually got sent east then east and was in great condition one step away from the boss (took 0 damage in the first two battles last time), and both times I get sent to the SE corner instead of the boss.
