Plus, the Fate version of Medusa is supposed to be a pre-hellenic fertility goddess, which might as well be an euphemism for 'sex goddess'.

So i'm confused. Just what is Medusa's lore/backstory? Someone pointed out to me that her eyes indicate that she is Cybele, an altogether different goddess. Which means she never served Athena in the first place? Help me, please.
