Spring was ending and summer was starting to grip the land in full force and like the weather your and Reimu's relationship heated up over the last few weeks. You've recently dropped the pretense of "donations to the shrine" to visit as far as you remember and even Marisa and Aunn has just accepted your presence as normal. Today was a special day, while it wasn't a holiday or anything particular the Moriya shrine was having a festival that you wanted to take Reimu to so with that in mind you traveled to the shrine from your abode in the village. With a light step from the sheer joy of seeing her again you made your way to the main shrine while it was still morning. you figured she must be relaxing on her veranda after a "long" day of hard work. You rounded the main shrine eventually seeing the red and white work of art sipping tea on the veranda with the breeze making her hair flow.
You wave and she waves back with a faint smile, all that she'd allow herself at this time anyways but it was enough for you. "Good morning Reimu!" you greeted as you walked over and in a softer voice yet clearly joyful you heard back, "Good morning, anon" as she bowed her head a bit in greeting. You took a seat next to her and scooped up her hand taking it into your lap and despite the air creeping in temperature she rests her head on your shoulder like a bird making itself cozy in its nest, you didn't mind the extra warmth at all. You almost got too comfy and wouldn't leave for the world but you remembered your purpose today and spoke up disrupting the calm mid morning and asked, "did you hear the Moriya shrine was having a festival today?" Reimu lets out a small, "hmm~?" in reply then finally says, "ah yeah their latest attempt to squeeze faith out of the village. I was thinking about setting up a stall there but I decided to take it easy today". You stroked her hair that had fallen on her porcelain face and got to the point, "I was hoping we could go together actually, if my princess could be roused from her castle anyways". Reimu gave you a light pinch in reply and to that you could only pull out your trump card, "I was hoping my princess would enjoy sampling some of the stalls there, I heard that most of the village's larger restaurants were looking to set up a small competition there~". To that you hear Reimu sigh and she can't help but stir a bit before falling back, "fine you won! lets go when the sun dies down a bit okay? I hate waiting around in the heat..." smiling you can't help but lay back with her. Spending the day flirting and enjoying each others company was not a bad way to spend the day at all, being treated to her homemade lunch was all you could ask for in life but you mused that you wanted to treat her to your cooking skills you've been polishing ever since you settled in the village.
Soon the hottest part of the day was ending, the sun closer then ever to dipping below the mountain ranges that bordered Gensokyo, you and Reimu started your stroll to the village, knowing that by the time you made it up to the festival the sun would be close to setting and the true magic of the festival was about to begin. Your darling miko was just in her normal outfit but the way she clung to your arm made her especially beautiful today, feeling your eyes on her she turned to you just as you reached the gates to the village and asked if something was wrong, you couldn't bring yourself to say what you were thinking just yet and dismissed it with a "nothing". It didn't take long till you reached the festival grounds via the ropeway, the area normally empty was now bustling with foottraffic and stalls, youkai that you recognized mixed into the crowds along with tengu "covertly" enjoying the festival and what it had to offer. You bumped shoulders and greeted those you two knew both human and youkai alike a few not used to the sight of the shrine maiden in love gave some teasing remarks that made her flush and you bantered with them in her place until you went your own ways again. You remember amusingly seeing Sanae, who heard the rumors of your relationship, the conversation was plain but you couldn't help but notice a smugness in Reimu's voice. Your lovely miko's attention was soon drawn to the various stalls, where you played games trying to show off, usually being outclassed but holding your own until you made it to the food stalls, and as promised you used your wallet to your fullest, enjoying the simple sight of watching her eyes go wide before sampling all the fair had to offer and you wouldn't trade that sight for all the hours of work it took to make the money in the first place.
Before long the festival was reaching its climax, the fireworks which were but a backdrop to flashy danmaku show put on by Lady Kanako and Suwako to inspire the villagers. Their show didn't matter much to you really, the real prize was already in your hands and under the lights of the fireworks you took her first kiss, making Reimu flush red.
