Back before the Kouryuudou trial was released, when all we knew was that there was going to be some kind of card system, someone joked that the 1cc chart would have to have a lot of boxes for the different "routes". Of course we know that that's silly now, but I thought it might be interesting to actually crunch the numbers for the fun of it.
Firstly, for the demo: You have two starting card slots, and 18 cards to choose from, plus the option of no card. Aside from the single case of two empty slots, the two cards have to be different, but it doesn't matter which order they're in. That gives ((19 * 18) / 2) + 1 = 172 different possible starting configurations. Then for each stage, you can buy any non-boss, non-item card that you don't already have, any of the five purchasable item cards (since I'm assuming the Phoenix Tail can show up multiple times), or that stage's boss card if you don't already have it. Because of these rules, the math gets a little bit wrinkly, but long story short, it works out that there are 13,167,897 different possible "routes" just through the demo.
Extending to the full game, I had to make a few assumptions - that none of the 26 new cards will be item cards, that there will be five boss cards, that you can buy cards after each of the five stages, and that you'll still have two starting slots. (If any of these turn out to be wrong, I can easily revise them later.) Given these conditions, there will be 991 starting configurations and 121,998,606,396 "routes" for the full version. If one run takes 30 minutes, then it would take almost 7 million years of playing non-stop to play all of them and "100%" the game.
In conclusion, I'm only going to consider it as having 4 routes.
