how do you determine what matters and what doesn't? also, to the extent that *we* do things that don't matter, that doesn't mean life *itself* is necessarily meaningless.

what does that even mean? I assume you think that's the end of 'us': maybe it is in a sense, but how do you know there isn't something afterwards?
maybe you have knowledge I don't, but the one thing I find consistent with these nihilistic arguments is that they aren't warranted based on one's knowledge.
