Is there any way to tell if something needs a thicker or more watery lube other than trial and error/asking people that tried the toys?

I worded it wrong when I said I had no toys, I have two dildos and a buttplug, not sure if those help at all to getting used to holes.
I also tried diy vaginas but unsurprisingly they felt lackluster.
