Can confirm. I've lived it. Aspergers kinda hurts when none of the higher middle class side of your family recognise it as something that makes you perceive the world differently and ridicule you for not being like everyone else. I pity Maria a lot because I see myself in her. Potential, silenced and abused out of ones own kin just to "look good". Its not like the illusion of a "proper" child lasts for long or anything.
