07th Expansion character works mentions that Teppei was abused himself when he was a child, IIRC. Minagoroshi also has Irie randomly going on once about how Teppei and his wife starts abusing Satoko after suffering ostracism from Hinamizawa's people (although this one is really odd since it's only brought up once near the end of Minagoroshi and doesn't line up with any other Teppei scenes even though it's one of the last things written about him).

Still, I don't have much hope for the manga fixing this. Teppei seems like the kind of thing that will need to be rushed by the manga since it's giving focus to other stuff.
