They're an idol group backed by a metal band. Metal has backed plenty of other genres and pop is nothing new.

Nobody here is claiming Perfume are the second coming of christ. The majority of us like them because they're a "dreams come true" success story of performing in front of meat and fish markets in Hiroshima to doing the Tokyo Dome and performing in America.

Baby Metal started as a sub unit gimmick and they're famous because of it.
