Keeping people alive does not necessarily make for a satisfying ending, though. I found the Shin going for a swim end the most satisfying, because even though a few more people die and Rokushiki might not get caught, it's one of the only ends where a killer actually comes to terms with the atrocities he has committed, and understands that the murders accomplished nothing. I could be wrong though, I think Kusaka might have doubted himself in one of the ends.
