I did this a lot during my Sakuya run. It's definitely a nice synergy, but I feel that at least in the demo, it's not so significant since everyone can safely run up and whack the boss during the start of an attack, or (with some skill) between waves of an attack.
It's also not very useful for survival in the demo, since money is so easy to get and the cards aren't expensive enough.
Time will indeed tell.
