A question for the ages, friend. One that honestly wouldn't bother me much if it went unanswered, since that just means I can keep asking it to myself over and over, thinking about all their wonderful qualities and perk(ines)s while I build a greater and deeper appreciation for them. One such answer of a limited scope would be that they represent fertility and maturity, being the cradle for a newborn's sustenance. But I don't think that properly explains the sheer ravenous hunger I get when seeing them. They're gems of the world.
