I always imagined Suwako as more of a wingman to Kanako's suitor. Kanako would probably try to avoid going out on a date with some lame excuse, like needing to check on the geyser center. Suwako would insist on doing it in her stead, playing dumb, to both put Kanako in an uncomfortable situation, and give the comparatively young goddess some much needed experience.
Suwako has been around a long time and probably doesn't have much interest in playing these tedious games herself, but influencing things like this would make for an easy laugh.

Well, Suwako isn't the one calling the shots. I think frogs are friends not food, but if Kanako-sama is offering, how could I decline?
