If I have to say, maybe because I find this bland heroine realistic? I mean, it's rare to see real people with their traits stick out right away when you first meet them.

But blandness is not the only thing that attracts me to a heroine unless I actively seek that trait. Usually it's also added with another traits that people already seen a million times before, like being nice, close to the MC or being MC's childhood friend, have maternal qualities like being able to cook, etc, although one could argue that those traits are just a part of their blandness. So maybe because of these 'boring' heroine provides the 'safest' option of the quirky bunch. Why bother seeking out love when there is this one nice girl that ready to accept the MC nearby?

Or maybe, like what I said on earlier posts, because she lacks other interesting features that other heroines have that it makes her special. Like, for example, of all the girls on Fate, I like Yukika the most among all girls in the series; Homely, nice, beloved by her siblings, and just an ordinary highschool girl even among her own circle of friends; The rest of the cast are so colorful and has their own quirks that it makes the lack of her interesting traits becomes a trait in itself, and to me, amplifies the appeal of her 'bland' traits, more than Sakura.
