I wonder why. I have a second home in WY because I declare that state of residence for tax reasons. I considered Idaho years ago but it had taxes which would have defeated the purpose of having that second home. I really liked an area though. I am fine on my 46 acres in MD but if this was my only place I would get assraped in corporate and income taxes. All I got to pay a few extra thousand a year on is property taxes on the 46 acres as a non resident owner. At least it's zoned agriculture or else another assraping. I sometimes hay or have a neighbor farmer plant. My parents bought it in 1979 for 82k and built.

I am just surprised people in their 20s aren't buying little tiny homes, buying and selling and working up since time is on their side.
