Not much appeal to the source material itself other than how bad it was. It was anticipated to be big as many illustrator and voice actors involved but falls flat to lack of development and polish, stiff performance and inconsistent art styles, in part due to bad coordination of the main organizer of the project. This then spawns mockery meme in the form of edited uploads, one of which is in the forms of MADs (like youtubepoop) which frequently got taken down.
Personal information of the creators usually leaks by themselves interacting or answering questions with the internet through posting and streaming with haters and followers, and some of their IRL friends would also just leak info in posts. The weaponization of these compiled information and info gathering by autistic audiences is soon escalated by the video take downs seen as abuse of power by mainly the project's manager and all hell broke loose. And I think because draw fag don't really talk much, are less affected, while voice actress and organizer being the camless e-girl got impacted hard in the shit storm. Internet's most deplorable are rallied to get them, digging up bit by bit, each piece of info help digging up more.
This is the same for creation as well. For creators you got a rich sediment of character illustration and green screened/alpha/raw skeleton animation in the original or contributed by others, with voice line of VA inside the voice drama or stream zip packed. Character settings already attached to them as well, either from leaks, past meme and trope that sticked. Individually few would do all that to shitpost, but someone already did all the work to gather, arrange, for malicious, fetish reasons or for the common good of fellow creators. And these sharing tends to help meme stick around for longer and many are motivated for the fame of themselves or what they liked. To this day the most popular format is titled with [some aneki doing something.GB] and make an example which can be extended into a short story.
