Remember when Nogizaka debuted and had an actual rivalry relationship with AKB? They showed in their lives, tv shows, radio and even got the usual 48 treatment with aitakatta in their first single.
AkiP proposed resuming the same process with the new group, however, Konno gave him the middle finger, and the business side of SME requested 50% royalties for a period of 5 years. Ultimately, they reached a mutual agreement on the "rivalry" aspect, but without acknowledging it from SMEs perspective.
Right now, Sony is thinking about whether it was the right decision to let them use their brand name. They're figuring out if taking the legal route would be more profitable than not.
