There's always a lot of discussion of AT2, which is admittedly the better game. What did everyone think of AT1 though?

Despite being relatively mediocre, it was engrossing enough to hook me into the series and guarantee I would pick up AT2 when it did come out. Looking back on it now, however, I don't know why I enjoyed it as much as I did. The characters weren't particularly interesting to me, the level of difficulty was laughable, and the story wasn't anything special. I thought it had better pacing than AT2 though.
