Should I join the American Legion, AMVETS or something else if I am going to take a few months this summer to travel around the US and up to Canada and Alaska in a truck camper?

I am a Navy veteran. Do any have hookups/showers or any travel related benefits. The idea of hiking and then eating/drinking at a different post at night might be be fun now and then.
