Well anon, Marica even tought marica is mostly used as an insult in spanish, it can be also used as the hypocorism(?) of the spanish name María.
Being honest here Ryukishi should have done more research because the name Maricarmen is also an hypocorism of the name María del Carmen, so it's kinda weird because she is giving her nickname name another nickname name.
