What effects the income rates anyway - your level? You get a base 3 fuel+steel+ammo per 3 min and 1 bauxite fer min rate and the best resource expeditions on a per hour base seem to be 1-3 and 1-5 which you can start doing pretty much right from the start. Sorties, by themselves, are bound to be a loss resource-vise. Quest rewards also stay the same throughout the game.
