No, the body is effectively dead, as there's no soul animating it. In Touhou, "you" are the soul. The soul also shapes the body, which is why the object is slowly transformed into a likeness of yourself. What's more, this likeness is susceptible to self-change, as you will. Miko markedly did change her appearance, while Futo did not.

Mokou's immortality functions upon the same principle: her soul is indestructible and immovable, so when the body dies, it creates another body around itself. Of what and according to what image is up to speculation (the reason why Mokou looks different now may or may not be because of self-perception), but it's explicitly said it's the soul willing it.
