It depends on your playstyle. Low cost also affords you to do more wild stuff, which if you succeed pads your score with a lot of contribution and if you fail you won't suffer as much penalty.

Low cost bodies are also able to (with a few cost upgades) carry high caliber weapons and essentially work like disposable platforms for those weapons.
