So, in the last two years or so, we've had a pretty big influx of monster girls in media. Both original (pixiv, tumblr, here) and in Japanese stuff. We can probably attribute this to MGE, MGQ and EMG making them into obscure 'fads' in the otaku circles. Obviously we have our own threadcanon stuff including thread taboos (monsterboys, futa, etc). The question then becomes...

Do monster girls justify a work?

Or, alternately, if the work is objectively bad, is it considered 'good' if the monster girls make up for it?

Can monster girls salvage work that is true shit?

I'm wondering since, as far as I can tell when amateur stories and such are concerned over here, people just pucker up for the airplane of shit that people whip up. Hey, it has monster girls!

... but what if it had no monster girls? Would you still read or enjoy the work? What about some monster girl media you've enjoyed (MQQ, EMG, so on), would you still have had fun with them if the monster girl aspects didn't exist?
