Virginity is tied into spiritual morality, so you're both on to something here. In Europe, Africa, and West of the Middle East, dragons demanded virgins for sacrifices. Its possible that these dragons were more like Kappa like or at least Kappa come from the same branch family the so called dragons did, both being different yet sharing several tributes, like the deflowering of a maiden/destruction of innocence in a holy child.

Oni were supposedly in America the same time the Jomon were suppose to have eradicated evil blond haired horned giants from the Nihon Islands. Do you think there is a correlation with these Oni/mound builders? The structures in America date the same time as the mounds in Japan.

How about this then? The person who had spread Buddhism was suppose to have rode in off the thunder clouds on a tiger with massive eagle wings. I'm not quite sure what mystical creature the man who brought Buddhism to Japan was riding on. I might have read it was the phoenix, but I need to double check that.
