yes, and don't think as translation but as meaning, but these decks are supposed to focus on vocabulary
30 whole new words a day is quite much yes, and maybe you should try studying raw kanji/radicals first as they help with identifying them a lot easier

while on the topic, what deck?
and in general I really think coredecks are a bit of a newbie trap, and much like I've said before they can be pretty misleading
also, beware that anki is a tool for remembering, not for learning
