Eh, I really doubt that interpretation for Oni. They do the holding hands thing and start chanting about how they're the universe and only the hands from their family can reach them when they're suffering aggression and need to calm down (in this case, Sakiko yelling about them being murderers and how they should disappear).

It's probably just what they start doing when they're all being burned alive, rather than desperately trying to run through the flames, since they're conditioned to react like that.
