Erika is, without a doubt, the best character in Umineko. Period.

Why? The reason people like Erika more than any other character in Umineko is pretty logical: She's the most developed, and you can either pity her, find her loveable or like her because she's just brilliant but batshit crazy at the same time. Everyone can find something desirable in her character.

Yes, she was characterized better in THREE (short) episodes than Battler was in SEVEN. In ep 5 we saw her ruthlessness and how desperate she was to be accepted and praised by someone (Bern), and witnessed her underhanded tactics in ep 6 (as well as some interesting background story, her using her detective skills to reveal her lover's affair).

What makes her a great villain is that she really wasn't a villain at all, just a character on the opposing side. She's probably the most human, and out of everyone does the least amount of angsting.

Alas, we'll never a spin-off series revolving around her.

Erika was the sliver of light that made Chiru bearable. I miss her already. It's a shame she'll never get a spin-off game/series/whatever.
