Like, go out right now, you might find a nice human girl near where you are. Unless there is something wrong with them, hmm?
Youkai at least are honest. I'd say the monster is on the outside, but they're almost always prettier than humans, so there's that too.

Short answer is, we just don't know, and unless the DDCs get extra exposure in the manga or the next Akyuu book, we're unlikely to ever find out. My personal guess would be ready access to alcohol. I don't like to see Banki as a social creature, so I'm ruling out sentimental reasons.

Other possibilities are:
- A mole for the Grassroots Network (though we don't know for sure whether she's a member)
- Sheer coincidence of ending up in the village after arriving in Gensokyo, not unlike a certain snake in FS
- Other conveniences of living in a human civilisation
- Marginally more interesting than the middle of the bloody woods or a god damn lake
