The problem is that all the competition kept improving. Luka V2 definitely sounded in many ways an improvement over Miku and the Kagamine twins when she launched in 2009, she was pretty much the nicer sounding vocaloid then and I could even sort of mistake some of her songs for some real singer instead of some high pitched robot. But Miku V4x, Una, Gumi V4, Hime and Mikoto all sound more natural, and even when you need something deeper sounding you can go for their appends.

Luka's final chance now is if CFM manages to make the NT engine competitive with Vocaloid and they manage to do a modern V2 Luka.
