Do keep in mind that Shoggothes are essentially at the lowest rung of the pecking order in Lovecraftian power hierarchy. They were created by the Elder Things to serve as manual labor and are basically gelatinous Mexicans.

They're still absurdly powerful compared to anything human or from Earth given that when not a giant mass of black nightmares, they were able to form pretty much everything under the sun from their body, often times cycling through redundant organs when chasing the poor bastards at the Mountains of Madness.
