Kayo's Idol Theory

There are three types of idols that are popular in AKB:

1) Orthodox Idol
recognized as "idols" at first glance
outstanding looks
there's only about 1 or 2 in every generation

2) Personality/Individuality Idol
opposite of orthodox idol
big in variety and mcs, appeal through a special talent or hobby
supported even by people who aren't as interested in AKB
common among first generation members of a group

3) Godly Interaction/Handshake Goddess
most prone to creating a strong bond with their fans
appeal through godly interactions during handshake events rather than "idolness" or individuality
put a lot of effort into handshakes and theater performances
interact with their fans on social media every day

This is a broad separation and Kayo argues that there's of course idols who belong multiple types. There's orthodox and individuality idols that give godly handshakes, but orthodox and individuality don't mesh that well as they are opposites.
