This x100. Canon Alice is a sarcastic, cynical and depressed magical puppeteer who lives by herself working on her dolls and avoiding social contact. Fanon Alice shit all over that by making her into a shy, cheerful, and friendly girl who's best friends with patchy and marisa. And that's why I can't like Alice anymore. ZUN made this perfect Daria-Eeyore hybrid, and the fans somehow make her into the complete opposite character from that interpretation. I would easily say Alice has suffered the most fanon-ruining.

Aya also used to suffer from the slut namecalling, but then it transfer to Sanae. Now she's just seen as a slight pervert and paparazzi. But even then, there's still a large portion of Aya fans who mostly stick to the canon portrayal of her, so it's not that bad.

As far as characters that were pretty much unscathed by fanon, I would vote Yamame and Letty because nobody gives a fuck about them.
