Yes. I thought it's just memes at first too but it actually nicely works out a couple problems that grappling sports have (passivity and being hard to understand for spectators). There actually was a couple threads during the basho on /sp/ and /asp/.

I guess Kisenosato will retire after this basho, won't he? Starting 0-4, I don't think he can bounce back from this. Pulling out with injury at this point also might be a problem. Considering he is the only Yokozuna competing it is really sad seeing him like this. It is the first time in 87 years that a Yokozuna begins the tournament with 4 straight losses. At least a lot of Rikishi will get a nice cash bonus from all the kinboshi being thrown out. And all the Ozeki are healthy which is nice.
