I'm not really sure. I happened to have their final live sitting on my HDD, so I gave it a watch. Apparently during their solo parts, the audience switches their penlight color to match the girl that's singing. That's it. If I weren't looking for it, I probably wouldn't even notice it, especially since the camera never focuses on the audience.
