The flag being planted on the moon was a declaration of war, so in response, the Lunarians deployed "Metal Gear Luna", and thus began the Lunarian Missile Crisis. The Cuban Missile Crisis is a coverup for this. The Lunarians had their time mechanics travel back to 1945, to prevent the allied invasion of Moscow, to prevent the prevention of the cold war, and then implanted a member of the Pentagon with the "Japan won" scene from the time-travel episode of Family Guy, which was drawn out by this member, causing one official to pull off his glasses and say "Dear God...", as they all watched the finished work. The Lunarians told the Pentagon this would be their fate if they didn't withdraw their forces from the moon's surface. The Pentagon stated that they wouldn't negotiate with time terrorists, and so, Metal Gear Luna launched millions of radiation-free nuclear bombs all over the world. The Pentagon then ordered the moon astronauts to depart, and to take the flag with them. The astronauts complied, and so, the Lunarian time engineers went in, and the day was saved, mostly. The world remembers these events as the "Cuban missile crisis", and the flag was again placed on the moon, to indicate that these were real occurrences. This marked the beginning of the cold war, and no member of the government remembers this, as all had their memories modified by the time engineers.
