I strongly recommend AGAINST watching the anime before the VN, as it spoils the plot of 1-4 without giving as great an experience as the original VN would give. Especially episode 3 is a rollercoaster in the VN, but completely underwhelming in the anime. (Most notably the big ceremony becoming a small 'okay, congratulations' in an empty room was preposterous, considering how grand and monumental it was in the original.)

Indeed, it will. And at that point, it will be voted on by other people than just the people who played through the entire series and took it all seriously, instead of people skipping the boring parts and completely missing the point on the supposed 'kickass' parts. You know how Umineko no Naku Koro ni (1-4) used to be the #1 highest rated game on VNDB? Idiots came in, completely missing the point, and rating it lower because 'the mystery and violence is good, but the meta-bullshit really screws up the pacing'. The same will happen with Muv-Luv Alternative; people will vote it lower because there's 'so much bullshit between the actually good scenes'.

Actually, it's mainly people who have never read Umineko posting for both sides. Some may have watched the anime, but most of them are just trolling the other side; the pro-Umineko side to go against general opinion, the anti-Umineko side because it's cool to hate on Umineko.

It's sad how you can no longer discuss anything Ryukishi07-related on /jp/ anymore without it devolving into this.

The way he handled fan reaction to Umineko really lowered R07's stocks in my eyes. It takes some advanced immaturity and arrogance to go so far as to mock your own customers in the product you hope for them to buy. He seems to be thoroughly convinced of his own ingenuity.

Also, is it just me or was 7 the length of maybe one third of the previous episodes? It seemed to fly past in a flash.

At the same time it still felt far too long because half of it was Yasu's tedious daily routine. The only semi interesting parts were the ones with Will and even those kinda fell flat.

If 8 is supposed to be even worse, I'm really curious what it's going to be like.
