Best way to learn Japanese on a superficial level?
I've got 3 months to kill and I'd like to do that. Just the basics - being able to watch things unsubbed or read basic menus/text in video games.

Hey /jp/. Bit of a trifling question but: My Japanese friends call me "ホオジロ額"

What the fuck does it mean?

I just started to learn Japanese. Ive learned the first tworows in the hiragana alphabet and a few phrases as well.

Kanji is a bit intimidating since there are a lot of characters, but I also see that is very useful and practical. And I love how japanese is written.

I'm mainly learning because I want to play games that were only released on japan, like the Kingdom hearts final mix game, the second one got it's patch, but i want to play the first too.

How long do you think it will get me to be able to at least read the game?. Not master it, but at least barely read it?

Does passing JLPT1 mean I'm literate in the language?

What is your strategy on learning Kanji?

I've been trying to write down every Kanji I encounter as many times as I could to embed them in my head but I seem to forget them after a few days.

How many years did it took for you to learn Kanji enough to be able to read manga just like that?

Okay /jp/,
I'm fed up of being one of these people who have to download unfinished and (in most cases) low quality translations for J-Games.

I'm also fed up of watching awesome anime's with some annoying white text on the bottom of the screen which i have to affixiate my eyes to 100% of the time, thus i miss all the action.

Don't get me started on English Dubs.

All in all /jp/, could somebody out there post a program or download etc. to something that will assist me in learning Japanese so i don't have to consume all this awesome media with English shit drooling all over it.

Thankyou.

Hay jaypee.

Does anyone have any good sites with stuff like kanji charts, like what I have here, or useful kanji learning stuff? I'd prefer if it were just on the site, you don't need to download/pay for anything and such...

tl,dr; Kanji is ridiculous and I need an easy way to learn me some.

Is there a particular and effective method that those of you who are trying to learn Kanji use?

I can't take classes until next year and until then I was hoping I could take advantage of some software that could help me learn the kanji.
