Happy Anniversary, monster thread! On this day, six years ago, I posted the first chapter of Journey of the Magi onto pastebin. Crazy how fast it's all gone by. Came up on me faster than I thought, so I only have another chapter of War of Corruption for you.

Still going strong. Thanks for reading for all these years.

Never mind, I got it working. I think. Voting time is finally upon us! Rev up those spectacles and get reading! I'll leave this open for a week or so, given that there are only a few entries and none of them seem too big to read.

I'd like to thank everyone who participated, and even the people who started something but didn't finish it. I encourage everyone to finish and post anyways; you've already come this far, might as well go the extra mile.

Writing can be hard, and it's even harder when you get backlash or indiference. The important thing is that you keep working at it. When I started writing, I was only getting two or three replies per story, and at least one was some guy telling me to fuck off. No one who wrote for these threads became famous for one story. I'm closing in on a million words at this point, and I still make mistakes and struggle to find the right words. I hope that this doesn't turn out to be a one time thing, and that some of you stick around to write more, even if it is just a story every few months. Lord knows we need it. End sappiness, let's get reading!

Alright you monster enthusiasts, time to finally start writing this year like you've told yourself for the past half decade. I'm throwing down the gauntlet and inviting all new or novice writers to participate in a contest. One month to write, and two weeks for everyone to vote. Submit by Jan 31, and everyone will vote by Feb 14.

>I don't know...
You have nothing to lose. If you're here, your dignity is long gone. Worst case scenario you disappear and never worry about writing again.

>where do I submit?
Ao3 or Pastebin. Pastebin doesn't allow smut or swearing, so beware. One month should be plenty of time for Ao3, I got my approval in like a week. PUT FOR CONTEST OR FC IN THE TITLE SO WE KNOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE JUDGED!

>what do I write?
Whatever you want.

>what's in it for me?
What, the respect and appreciation of your fellow monster-lovers isn't enough? Fine, you greedy bastard. I'll do a com for the winner.

>how will voting work?
Pollme. I think the guy who did the census all those months ago was able to make a pollme that lasted for two weeks.

I see a lot of people mention that they want to try writing, but we rarely get content from anyone who isn't well established by now. During times like this, where we go months without a new girl or game update, it's important to have enough oc to keep us busy. Even if you don't win, you shouldn't feel bad. It took me months of work before people started to notice the things I was putting out. If you ever need advice, there are plenty of people in the thread who would love to help. I'll do my best to set everything up, but I'm not the best with logistics. Any tips or suggestions are appreciated. Good luck to anyone who enters!
